Course Learning Objectives

The teacher - trainees on successful completion of the course should be able to:

  1. Appreciate what research is, types and its relevance in education disciplines.
  2. Evaluate research methods (e.g. such as qualitative, quantitative, single-case designs, action research, and outcome-based research)
  3. Demonstrate adequate practical skills for conducting educational research.
  4. Demonstrate ethical and culturally relevant strategies for interpreting and reporting the results of research.
  5. Technical knowledge of how to write research proposals and reports.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Knowledge and understanding of research, its types and its importance in education.
  2. Ability to demonstrate adequate theoretical knowledge of research methods.
  3. Ability to demonstrate adequate practical skills for conducting educational research.
  4. Knowledge and understanding of research ethics in managing research
  5. Technical knowledge of how to write research proposals and reports.
